Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 3, 2026

Games for Brains (danfradenburgh.com/game) is a website of brain games run by Dan Fradenburgh in Quebec, Canada. This policy explains what personal information the site collects, why, how long it is kept, and what you can do about it.

The short version: you log in with an account you already have, so there is no password here. The site never sends you email, never sells your information, and shows no ads.

Who is responsible

Dan Fradenburgh is the person responsible for protecting personal information on this site. To ask a question, make a privacy request or complain, send a message on LinkedIn: linkedin.com/in/dan-fradenburgh.

What is collected

When you log in

You log in with Google, Microsoft, Facebook, Steam or LinkedIn. That service tells this site:

  • a unique account number for you on that service, used to recognise you next time, and
  • your email address, if the service provides one (Steam does not).

Your password stays with the login service and is never seen or stored here. Your name and profile picture from the login service are not stored. If you connect more than one login method, each one is linked to the same account.

Your display name

Leaderboards show a display name that you choose on your Profile page. Until you choose one, you appear as "Player" followed by a number. Your email address is never shown to other players.

When you subscribe

Payments are handled by PayPal. Your card or bank details go to PayPal and are never seen by this site. The site receives and stores your PayPal subscription number, plan, status and dates. PayPal's notifications about your subscription also include the name and email address on your PayPal account.

When you play

  • Scores, times and leaderboard entries, including runs that the anti-cheat checks rejected.
  • For some games, an optional replay of your inputs, used only to check suspicious top scores.
  • Game progress, statistics and settings that a game saves to your account, and moves in games you play against friends.

Some games also save settings or progress in your own browser's storage. That stays on your device and is not sent to the site.

Technical information

  • One login cookie, which keeps you logged in. It ends after 8 days without activity or when you log out. There are no advertising or tracking cookies, and no analytics.
  • Your IP address, briefly, to limit how fast actions can be repeated (this blocks spam accounts and attacks).
  • Standard web server logs (IP address, pages requested, browser type), kept by the hosting company for security and troubleshooting.

How it is used

  • To log you in and keep your account and subscription together across login methods.
  • To unlock subscriber content when your PayPal subscription is active.
  • To show leaderboards and save your progress.
  • To keep leaderboards fair and the site secure.
  • To answer you when you contact me.

Your information is not sold, rented or shared for advertising or marketing, and the site sends no email.

Automatic score checks

Leaderboard scores are checked automatically. A score can be rejected if it was finished faster than the level allows, is outside the possible range, or is for a subscriber level without a subscription. If you think one of your scores was rejected or removed by mistake, contact me and I will review it personally.

Who else receives information

  • Your login service (Google, Microsoft, Meta, Valve for Steam, or LinkedIn) knows that you used it to log in here. Its own privacy policy applies.
  • PayPal processes subscription payments under its own privacy policy.
  • The hosting company (currently GoDaddy) stores the site and its database. Its servers may be outside Quebec and Canada, including in the United States, where local law may let authorities access data.
  • Google Fonts: pages load their typeface from Google's servers, which receive your IP address and browser details when they do.
  • Other players see your display name and scores on leaderboards, and your display name and moves in games you play with them.

Information may also be disclosed if the law requires it.

How it is protected

  • The whole site uses HTTPS.
  • No passwords are stored. Logins are confirmed by the login service, and PayPal subscriptions are confirmed directly with PayPal, never trusted from your browser.
  • The login cookie is secure and cannot be read by page scripts. Logging in starts a fresh session, and all sessions can be ended at once.
  • Forms and game requests are protected against forgery from other websites, and repeated requests are rate-limited.
  • The database, site code and private files cannot be reached from the web.

No system is perfectly secure. If a breach could put you at risk of serious harm, you and Quebec's Commission d'accès à l'information will be told, as the law requires.

Your rights

You can ask to:

  • see the personal information held about you, and get a copy in a common computer format;
  • correct it;
  • delete it (see below);
  • withdraw your consent, which means deleting your account.

You can change your display name and linked logins yourself on your Profile page. For anything else, contact me on LinkedIn. Requests are answered within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with the answer, you can complain to the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec.

Deleting your account

Go to your Profile page and choose Delete my account, or contact me on LinkedIn. If you have an active subscription, cancel it in PayPal first, because deleting your account does not stop PayPal billing.

Deleting your account removes your linked logins, email address, display name, scores, replays and game progress. Only the subscription and payment history in the table above is kept, for tax purposes. Full instructions are on the data deletion page.

Children

Players under 18 may only play through a parent's or guardian's account, with that parent's or guardian's permission. The parent or guardian is responsible for the account. If an account turns out to belong to someone under 18 without that permission, it will be deleted.

Changes to this policy

Changes are posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date. Important changes are also announced on the games dashboard.
